BY NIGHT- A NEW SHAPE OF DESPERATION

Three childhood friends from Falkenberg Sweden used to dream of making it
big as an extreme metal band, now it's a stone cold reality. By Night is signed
to the German Hardcore label Lifeforce records where they have made plenty of
brutal songs while detuning their musical strings from D to B. Singer Adrian
Weston was the last to join after a few prior replacements. 2005 brought them
stomping thru Europe on "The Monster Moshdown Tour"
By Night's new CD "A New Shape Of Desperation" is harder than hell with
outstanding drumlines and music to match. This band delivers an epic sounding LP
that will impress the most discouraged listener.
I did not bet on liking this CD because I am a far cry away from being an
extreme metal fan, but every now and again something will pass by me that I just
can't ignore, and "A New Shape Of Desperation" was absolutely one of those kind
of things. To each their own I always say but this release was contagious and I
am now infected.  Spreading the word about this CD is one of the only ways I
have to express what a great catch this is. There has been a huge response on
the metal scene for this band. Vocalist Adrian used to play in Aggressive Serpent
which now call themselves Trendkill. I used to write for www.nocturnalhall.com
(too heavy for me) and happened to review one of Trendkill's CD's, unfortunately
for them the regrouped By Night's wins by a landslide.
This shit pounds the old kill's tunes to the ground with a gigantic
tightly closed fist. Get out your studded sleeves and collars people because
this is as good as it gets. Wildly energetic onstage antics are a true crowd
pleaser and these boys have this nailed to the fucking wall. By Night finds joy
in the infliction of pain and you can feel it by the music's crushing style that
smothers you with total darkness. After the sting is gone and the ugly swelling
fades to bruises of purple and yellow your beaten will, still craves more.
