 LIPSTICK MAGAZINE
07.28.2009

Lipstick Magazine has been making a name for themselves in recent years supporting classic hard rock and metal bands, as well as headlining their own dates. And while their sound may somewhat hearken back to an 80’s melodic metal vibe, the group uses that element to create a unique, fresh sound that is all their own. Whether it’s the twin axe guitar assault of Damon Marks and Nat Gardner, or the powerful pipes (and awesome abs) of vocalist Toni Loyas, Lipstick Magazine makes for one hell of a live show.

“Something You Should Know” gets the Nokia crowd up and runnin’, with crunchy riffs supplied by Nat Gardner. “Out of Control” provides a retro yet refreshing “Journey, 38 Special” feel that took me back to my pre-teen years. The title track of their second album, “Skin Deep” contains an amazing riff and is amazingly catchy. The audience definitely reacted well and turned things up a notch. “All I Want” is an old fashioned power ballad highlighted by Toni’s vocals and David Loya’s keyboard tinklings. The set ender was a piano blues rocker that kept the fans on their feet till the end.

Lipstick Magazine is a hot live band that delivers the goods full throttle. The vocals and musicianship is top notch and any fan of heavy rock would be wise to mark them on their calendar when they come to their town.
